After experimenting for years with the concept of a laminated wooden frame inspired by old wooden tennis rackets, Danish design duo Hvidt & Mlgaard released ‘X’ in 1959, a lounge chair with a distinctive sloping silhouette and understated aesthetic.
The matching X Coffee Table has now also been released.
Peter Hvidt (1916-1986) and Orla Mlgaard-Nielsen (1907-1993) were pioneers of Danish mid-century design and the founders of Copenhagen-based firm Hvidt & Mlgaard.
Materials
Oak Veneer sheets formpressed together towards a solid Walnutinsert. Milled into shape and lacquered. Natural Rattan weaved around a powder coated stainless steel frame.
