The light, elegant and comfortable PK1 was designed in 1955 and was manufactured by Carl Hansen & Sn since 2017. Now it is relaunched for 2023 with new and durable FSC-certified woven paper cord; a natural material that achieves a beautiful patina over time.
Designer Poul Kjrholm had a penchant for working with steel, preferably in combination with organic materials, to add softness and comfort to aminimal design. This new variant combines Kjrholms great knowledge of steel and Carl Hansen & Sns more than a 70-years expertise with woven paper cord.
It takes a skilled craftsmen 15 hours and 180 meters of paper cord to weave the seat on the PK1. The chair stacks up to 4 pieces, suitable for both private and public use.
Materials
Frame: Stainless steel or black powder-coated steel.
Seat/back: woven FSC-certified natural papercord
Felt-glides are always included and packaged in a separate bag – hard or felt version.
