Inspired by the brutality and simplicity of the substance it was made from, Kvara is made from 300mm wide flat bar mild steel – a material ordinarily cut and welded to be part of a much bigger civil engineering structure.
Kvara is initially pressed and foldedbyindustrial fabricators in Hull, UK. Designer Oscar Coakley then hand files back the sharp edges and meticulously peens them with a ball headed hammer to achieve an edge characteristic of the rough, unyielding nature of the piece, while being safe to the touch.
