While living in Sausalito, California, in 1967 theceramicist Lisa Larson was inspired by the strong colour and natural pattern in folk art from nearby Mexico.
I brought back gouache colours, in shades which were impossible to get in Sweden at that time, says Lisa Larson. I found a retired carpenter who turned out these bird shapes in wood which I then painted all by myself. It was a lot of work, and I had to get back to my ordinary work as a ceramicist…
Now these birds have been re-launched by Design House Stockholm in vibrantly painted solid beech.
